    The charge of the New Hartford Conservation
    Commission is to protect natural resources
    (solid, air, water, flora, fauna) in New Hartford.

    to preserve New Hartford’s rural
    character through the protection and
    preservation of natural resources; and
    to increase the amount of permanently
    protected land from the current 3,800
    acres to about 8,000 acres, or 30% of
    the town’s 24,362 acres.
    The Connecticut Forest and Park Association
    is a private, non-profit conservation
    organization, whose mission is to conserve
    the land, trails, and natural resources of
    Connecticut. Founded in 1895, it is the oldest
    conservation organization in Connecticut.
 
 
    The Working Lands Alliance is a broad-based
    coalition, whose supporters include farmers,
    conservation organizations, food security
    groups, local government organizations, and
    others. These groups (currently over 130) have
    joined together in an effort to halt the loss of
    Connecticut's remaining farmland.WLA is a
    project of the American Farmland Trust.
